An idea to make Algore, Greenies and other Socialists cream their panties

For years, the trucking industry has borne the brunt of fuel taxes, licensing fees, FET on tires, fuel permits..the list goes on and on.

Now the Messiah, the Great Obama, wants to improve the infrastructure, and is going to raise taxes to do it...well here is an alternative plan, with the benefits that go along, that will raise that infrastructure money without raising taxes, help the Global Warming problem, lower stress on the infrastructure and prevent highway fatalities.

In WWII, we had gasoline rationing. In the 1970's, we had gasoline rationing. Now, I propose that we again have gasoline rationing. Not DIESEL rationing, remember, you need the trucks or you go hungery..no more num nums or Fourthmeals or McChoke&Puke or MallWart runs.
Besides, at least for the present, this idea needs diesel engines.

Here is the plan. Each driver can buy 20 gallons of gasoline a week at the market price.
When that 20 gallons is used, they can buy another 20 gallons..but it will be market price X2 plus $5.00 per gallon. i.e. Market price is $1.75 per gallon. First twenty gallons cost $35.00. Next twenty gallons will cost you $170.00..

Need another twenty gallons? OK, you can buy it.. for market price x4 plus $10.00 per gallon.
$340.00..ANOTHER twenty gallons? $680.00! I hope I do not have to go on with these numbers, any reasonable conservative can see the pattern here.

Now, they would be exemptions of course..emergency vehicles and/or personnel. That's all.

This plan would PUNISH the evil owners of SUVs and other gas hogging vehicles, and redistribute their wealth, all the excess going to improve the infrastructure.

It would force gas guzzlers to park their evil machines, lowering stress on the infrastructure, lessen traffic jams and improve highway safety. It would lower those toxic emissions and greenhouse gasses, known to the State of Californication to cause cancer, yadayada.

It would force people onto public transportaion, currently underutilized, and create a veritable explosion of new jobs as area mass transit systems would have to hire more drivers and support people to operate. Hey, we the taxpayer fund these white elephants, NOW we can get use out of them!

"But you mean summnabitch, it hurts poor people!" Get this, and get it good...
Personal automobiles are NOT a right. They are a privilige. And a luxury. And could be done away with entirely with little harm to the economy or nation as a whole. Walk, ride mass transit, a bike, a horse, I don't give a rat's ass. GM, Chrysler, Ford..far as *I* am concerned, you can sink. And give back my tax money that is saving your worthless asses.

Of course..neighborhood businesses would have to come back for groceries, pharmacies, clothing etc..tsktsk. More jobs, and more competition..oops, straying from the Socialist plan back to capitalism, must be careful here...

OK, so to throw the UAW a bone, after all, the Socialists /must/ take care of their lapdogs, right?

I propose a new type of car, a TRUE hybrid. No fancy batteries, just 4-6 plain old lead acid, just like what you have now. They are recharged at home by plugging into a standard battery charger built into the car. They are recharged on the ROAD by a small gasoline or diesel generator motor..like the APU systems used by many OTR trucks now.

These truck APUS use a cup..8 ounces..of fuel an hour. At an average speed of 50 miles per hour, this same 8 ounces gives a range of...800 miles per gallon. *gasp!* This generator on these new vehicles would have no components connected to the driveline, and can, as a side benefit, provide environmental controls, i.e. heat, A/C, lighting and even AC power to plug your laptop and televisions into! Wow, could you commute then, watching Oprah and blogging.

To provide the locomotion to the wheels, four power inverters supply 120VAC to electric motors, one motor per wheel, one inverter per motor.

The rest, you engineers can figure out. You can have this car idea for the first two workable models off the assembly line, no cash remuneration needed, (the IRS would just steal it anyhow)...consider it my contribution to the greater glory of Herr Fuhrer Obama and the New Socialist States of Amerika.
